Past Its Prime
A huge welcome to my newsletter. I sincerely apologize to all of you
who have signed up over the years, and have received nothing. I have no
excuse for this neglect, and I plan to be more dilligent in this effort
in the future.
This is my latest painting after having been out of my studio for
several weeks travelling. To get back into the routine of painting, I
needed a set
up with no complications that I could paint in an afternoon. I picked a
rose, past its prime, from a bouquet of white roses, and placed it in a
small hand thrown vase. My still life stand was elevated to place the
vase at eye level. This eliminated the need to be concerned with the
accuracy of ellipses. I chose a 6 x 8 Pintura canvas covered board, and
with this simple set up and small canvas, I was able to complete the
painting in a few hours.
